Jenny Sandoval is a first-generation Latine poet (they/them) based in South Bay, San Diego. They hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and are deeply passionate to teach and uplift the youth. Their love for writing began in childhood, where they were first drawn to creative writing, later diving more into poetry as an adult.

They are the author of two self published poetry book, Nectar and Butterfly in the Spring. Through their work, Jenny creates space for those whose stories are often underrepresented: people from immigrant households, eldest daughters, individuals navigating depression and anxiety, grief, SA survivors, disability, and LGBTQ. To them, writing is an act of resistance and sharing vulnerable parts of life that aren’t discussed often or treated as taboo topics. Their work invites honesty, healing, and connection.

For over a year, they have expanded their artistic practice into photography, finding new inspiration through this medium. Influenced by their mother, who documented moments using disposable cameras, Jenny values the historical and emotional significance of physical and digital images as storytelling tools that preserve memory and legacy.

Through poetry and photography, Jenny hopes to inspire others to embrace their creativity and remember that we are more than what we produce in this capitalistic society. Jenny wants you to continue creating art, especially in these devastating times we are currently living through.
